TV recaps, Entertainment, & Pop Culture
Here we are. The white hat is off and it's no where to be found.
How did Olivia end up here? She's killing people left and right for what? To protect her? To help Mellie?
Well Mrs. Grant finally sees through Olivia's game and we now have hottie Jake Ballard as our Chief of Staff. I'd like him to be the chief of something else... how does anyone pick Fitz over Jake? You're all CRAZY.
We flip to Jake and his wife (she's still around?) telling David they want a divorce? Is that what is happening? There's a Trump joke thrown in there and I can appreciate it.
*Side note, I'll have a full post coming on this but I just finished The West Wing and it's really weird to see David play two roles in different White House shows.
Is anyone else weirded out by the friendship between Quinn & Papa Pope? It's odd.
The rest of OPA (whoever is still around at least) is back in the office, and trying to crack some case, and I literally cannot follow this. When did Scandal become so complicated?
There seems to be some sort of hacking into B613 that was done by someone very experienced and Jake has the great task of dealing with it. Olivia is obviously behind it, so it seems. WTF is she doing? Why is she doing this?
What happened to OLIVIA POPE!!!
Papa Pope seems to be replacing his daughter with Charlie & Quinn's baby girl, and it's weird. It's also kind of sweet and I hate that I like this.
THE BABY'S NAME IS ROBIN. I AM DEAD. THAT IS SO SWEET I WANT TO CRY.
Quinn accuses Papa Pope of being soft because he loves Robin and it's preventing them from getting Olivia back. She's back to being bad Quinn and is challenging Papa Pope, who then threatens her by saying "Don't say that when I have your child in my hands"
WTF Papa Pope is saying he is going to choke Robin? He's making a point because Quinn wants to take Olivia down and he won't allow that.
Supposedly Jake's wife leaked national secrets to someone, Olivia Pope transfered some money into a sketchy guy's account and now all hell is breaking loose.
Everyone is trying to figure out where the money came from; Olivia or the Russians? God dam those Russains, even in the fictional White House!
Vanesssa (That's the wife's name) goes on national TV and tells everyone she's not having an affair, but went to get some info on this double agent who she was having an affair with. Liv looks distressed as she drinks her wine in her poncho, at home, I wonder what this means.
Apparently, Cyrus is doing some backend deal to try to get Mellie impeached (or to resign) so he gets to be President. He's offering Olivia some sort of deal as well, to help him be President.
I literally am having such a hard time following this season, it's all over the place.
As Mellie is going in for her mammogram, Olivia serves her with some papers and says she's stepping down, but is also calling for HER to step down as well. I guess Cyrus and Liv have some dirt on Mellie, or maybe they set her up?
*During the commercials we are told that the HTGAWM and Scandal crossover comes on March 1st! I am READY.
We're back at the OPA offices and it's sad that Abby & Huck don't know Quinn is alive, especially when Charlie knows. He can't keep the secret in any longer, and we think he's going to tell them Quinn is alive but then he runs out of the room, heading to Papa Pope's house. Papa approaches him and says that Quinn left an hour ago, with Charlie... but she obviously didn't.
Olivia then walks into her house and sees a baby on the floor... Robin. She knows something is up and Quinn is behind her, holding a gun.
Quinn hands Liv a confession to all her crimes and if she doesn't sign it, she will kill her. Liv says that there are B613 snipers outside and they will shoot if Quinn doesn't stop. AT that moment, the sniper shoots and holy shit, Liv gets shot and she tells Quinn to leave.
It's always the last 10 minutes of Scandal that are most important anyways...
Mellie tells Jake that she's taking the blame for everything, which I'm assuming is the killing of Rashad.
Olivia shows up at her father's house, all bloody and he stitches her up, and gives some weird, metaphorical speech which I did not understand one bit.
*I had a really bad day so that's why I don't really understand anything tonight. My apologies.
The next day, Olivia proceeds to give her press conference and we think she is going to resign, but she hesitates. She fakes us out and actually does resign from Chief of Staff to Mellie.
As Abby and Huck are watching Olivia's press conference, he turns around and sees what I'm assuming is an alive Quinn, along with Charlie & Robin. It's a very beautiful reunion and I actually tear up. I always get emotional seeing Huck cry.
We end with Olivia saying she hopes she is always worthy of the President's confidence and faith.
I wasn't impressed with the episode. I miss Season 1 Scandal.
