TV recaps, Entertainment, & Pop Culture
It's a rainy Sunday morning and I'm sitting in bed, flipping through channels trying to find something decent to watch.
That's when I stumble upon Starz and see that High School Musical 3 just started. Instantly, I am transported back to my teenage years, and when Zac Efron was my everything.
Zac Efron is still my everything as I'm reminded why he is so incredible.
Do you remember when Zac Efron first came on the scene? It was 2006, he had crooked teeth and a bad haircut and Kenny Oretaga didn't think he was good enough to sing in HSM1 so Drew Seely played his vocals?
We loved him then, and who knew the glow up would be so real?
We had High School Musical 2 with black haired Zac Efron, who was in the middle of filming Hairspray. He looked so handsome, and a little more mature. He was able to sing his own songs, and he graced us with one of the best movie scenes ever, Bet On It.
Then came Hairspray and who knew we needed him as Link Larkin? It's one of the best Zac Efron roles to date. He showed his ability to play someone other than Troy Bolton.
Then, we had the final installement of Troy Bolton. Efron was a little more bulked up, his skin was still so tan and beautiful, and we got to see him stomp around an empty East High in the 'Scream' scene. Nothing is hotter than Troy Bolton choosing between basketball and singing.
This was also the last time we would see him in a dancing and singing role until The Greatest Showman, which I still haven't seen.
After he hung up the #14 jersey, he did some independent films, but then he came back in 17 Again.
I just remember being so grossed out that his daughter had a crush on a 17 year of Efron acting as Matthew Perry. I also remember that scene where Zac gets out of the car in sunglasses and leather jacket; also I cried my eyes out when he was professing his love to Leslie Mann in the courtroom.
Charlie St. Cloud came soon after and Efron crying in a cementry and having sex with a ghost made me laugh out loud in the theater but it was worth it to stare at his baby blues for 2 hours.
Then there was New Years Eve where he kissed Michelle Phiefer and then the last good boy role, The Lucky One where he played a Nicholas Sparks hearthrob.
After this, we see Efron move away from the soft, safe roles and go where his heart desires, where we want him all; a dirty, hot actor. The Awkward Moment, Dirty Grandpa, and The Neighbors series.
There was nothing I needed more in my life than Zac Efron as the hot fraternity presdient. This came my senior year of college when I was fraternity sweetheart and obsessed with greek life and I was truly in my element watching Neighbors.
Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, Baywatch, and the soon to be Ted Bundy biopic.
Zac Efron has proved his staying power, he has proved that he can sing, dance, and act; he can play the good boy or the bad boy. He is hot, handsome, sweet, kind, and everything we could ever want.
He is our Brad Pitt, our heart throb for life, and I have never been more thankful.
