TV recaps, Entertainment, & Pop Culture
Since the beginning of time, one thing has been true: Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall have hated each other.
There has always been reports that they strongly dislike each other (or from what I can see in 2018, Kim hated SJP) on the set of Sex and the City, and that continued all throughout the films.
It wasn't until late last year that I think the public realized how much Kim truly disliked SJP. The need and public want for a SATC 3 movie was overwhelming and SJP had been very coy about if they would actually do it. She said that there was a story to be told and her and Michael Patrick King wanted to pursue it.
I mean, if Carrie Bradshaw wants a 3rd movie, what's the problem?
Kim Cattrall is the problem, clearly.
She said she would not do a 3rd movie and that they could do it without her. That part of her life is over and she was never friends with the castmates. She seemingly crushed all of our hopes, dreams, and ideals about what it was like to film one of the greatest television shows of our generation.
This has caused many to come forward and say they would want to play the part of Samantha Jones; everyone from Ellen Degeneres to SJP’s longtime friend, Andy Cohen.
But would anyone watch a SATC movie without Samantha Jones? I would, and I think a lot of other people would. Maybe you don’t recast her, maybe you kill her off and have the girls mourn the death of their friend.
SJP said, last Thursday on Watch What Happens Live, that multiple people suggested Sharon Stone play Ms. Jones and that makes a hell of a lot of sense.
Despite this, things were still very up in the air and SJP remained tight lipped on whether or not the movie would happen.
Everything had been quiet and seemed to blow over, until last week when Cattrall’s brother died and SJP commented on her Instagram post to offer condolences.
Kim then went on to post a separate Instagram post attacking SJP for her comment saying she didn’t need her condolences.
I mean, whether or not you hate someone, they are offering their sympathies in a time of grievance and to attack them so publicly says so much more about Cattrall’s character than SJP.
What did Parker do so wrong? It seems that Cattrall’s cattiness is pure jealously and if she can’t even get over this ‘feud’ in one of the darkest moments of her life, then she never will and it’s pure pettiness.
Was Cattrall just jealous that SJP was the star of the show? That she got the praise for her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw and that so many young women idolize the fictional character?
I mean, I named this website after Carrie Bradshaw because she embodies everything I want to be. Samantha Jones never gets that kind of recognition and maybe Kim Cattrall is tired of it.
Mind you, other SATC cast members also shared their condolences with Cattrall but she only called out Parker.
That is just mind blowing to me and if I wasn’t already team Sarah Jessica, this drama would’ve solidified my loyalty.
Get over it, Kim Cattrall, and I hope there IS a Sex and the City 3 movie so I get more Carrie Bradshaw.
