TV recaps, Entertainment, & Pop Culture
I enjoyed this week’s General Hospital whole heartedly. Friday was the series 14,000th episode and it inspired me to think of my favorite episodes/moments. That will hopefully be up later this week.
We start the week off by finding out that the executor of Faison’s will is dead, and that he left all of his money to his son, but it was not specified if that was Nathan or Henrik.
He also left Anna a weird statue that is the goddess of love & death, or something like that.
On the flip side, Maxie approaches Peter who is talking to Nathan’s grave, saying this wasn’t supposed to happen and he calls him little brother, so we know for sure that Peter is Henrik.
Griffin sends Mike for some tests to see what the issue is with him (which we all know what it is) and Mike is just refusing to accept that there is something wrong with him.
This is my BIGGEST PET PEEVE in soap operas (and in life) but when someone cannot accept that something is wrong with them, it drives me nuts. You are forgetting things left and right and almost got arrested for trespassing because you forgot you didn’t work at Kelly’s anymore. Get over yourself, Mike Corbin.
Now, we get into the election for Port Charles mayor. The race was too close to call for a majority of the night, that is until a trash article revealing that Alexis is the one who went to Nora Buchanan to get Julian out of jail is published.
Soon after, we find out that Ned wins the election.
That is NOT before Julian comes to the Quartermaine mansion and throws Ned against the wall and threatens him. The Quartermaine clan comes into the room, Nelle and Kim are both present, and Kim takes Julian out of there and back to Charley’s Pub.
Clearly she chooses Julian over her son’s new family which I’m all for because I kind of like Julian and I really like Julian and Kim together.
Aside from the election this week, another key point was Franco and Liz’s pre wedding happenings. Franco discovers another memory of him and Drew, when he locked Drew in a chest when they were playing hide and seek. Kevin and him talk through it
Back to the election, and one of the best moments ever… Alexis wakes up and turns her head to see Finn. I LOVE this coupling and I ship it! I think they’re both really fun together and have good chemistry. I much prefer Alexis and Finn than Anna and him.
Speaking of Anna, she knocks on the door and sees Alexis and Finn together, creating some awkwardness. The reason she was there was to tell Finn some news about Cassandra which I already forgot.
There’s a nice scene between Julian, Kim, and Oscar about bullying and defending others, so that’s a nice relationship. I don’t think Julian is a bad guy, he just made some really horrible decisions. Team Julian!
*I also don’t know how people can forgive Sonny but not Julian. Makes NO SENSE.
Maxie and Sam are packing up Nathan’s things and Maxie wants to keep NOTHING. This is weird and confusing and I’m not here for this kind of grief. It’s boring, frustrating, and down right unrealistic and annoying. Bye Maxie, call me when you’re grieving like a normal perosn.
Dante gets a new partner, much to his dismay and the new officer, Chase, is quite good looking. Hello there!
Peter and Valentin have another conversation about how it was good for him to stay in town because it’ll keep him safe from Jason. WE’ll see how that plays out.
Nina goes back to Crimson but sees the blood, her brother’s blood, on the carpet and starts to clean it up.
WTF how did no one clean up the blood of the EIC’s brother? That is just poor housekeeping, Carly.
Maxie comes into the office, just as Carly and Nina are talking about the blood stain (which is now covered with a towel). She says that she needs to get back to work to be sane.
As they’re getting through the work day, Maxie’s phone keeps going off and she tells Nina that her and Nathan were supposed to go to childbirth class. Nina, with tears in her eyes, says that she will take Maxie and be there for her.
This really got to me and I started to tear up too. It was a really nice moment.
Nelle is still preaching to Ava that she is going get Michael back and that her night at the Quartermaine’s was a step in the right direction; she also comments that Carly will be out of the picture for good soon.
Michael overhears something because he comes to get Nelle for childbirth class and she plays it off as just a regular snide comment about her baby’s grandmother.
I wish someone would murder Nelle. I hope she has the baby and then Sonny puts a hit out on her.
Back at the hospital, Griffin diagnoses Mike with Alzheimer’s and obviously, the old man refuses to accept this and leaves the hospital in a huff.
We later discover that Mike went to Ava’s gallery which used to be the site for Luke’s old club which burned down years ago. Him and Ava get into it because he really believes they’re at Luke’s place and thinks Ava is an enemy of Luke.
Mike smashes a piece of art, runs out, and Ava calls the police. Griffin arrives as well and identifies Mike. They also get into it about Valentine’s Day and Ava blurts out that she loves Griffin.
Mike is eventually arrested and calls Sonny from the police station; Sonny tries to get him out but Chase, the new police officer, says he can’t let the charges go right now so Mike is staying put in his cell for now.
In childbirth class, Maxie is NOT pleased to see Nelle and they make rude comments and bicker with each other all throughout the session.
Dr. Bensch and Kiki are being very flirty at The Floating Rib and I’m getting weird vibes about this. I have a feeling we’ll see an inappropriate relationship blossom soon.
There’s more Franco and Liz talk throughout the week which I don’t care about at all because none of it is important. Franco is continually lying to Liz and it’s going to blow up in his face.
Back with Carly at the Metro Court, she meets up with Brad and Alexis who are discussing adoption. There is a woman who wants to give up her baby but wants a semi open adoption, which means that Brad and Lucas don’t get to know who she is and what her history is, and she could also come to them whenever she wants.
Carly doesn’t think it’s a good idea, but Lucas is adamant about it (on the phone to Brad) so Brad gives the ok to Alexis.
Why do I have a feeling this is all related to Nelle? It’s weird…
Speaking of Nelle, Carly gets another weird, anonymous phone call and this time she hears an explosion on the other end. Jason arrives just in time and they go to the police station to tell them all about the calls she has been getting.
Dante traces the call to a payphone, very close to where Morgan died in an explosion as he reveals to Jason.
Carly also reveals that a previous call was a male voice saying “I’m here.”
My guess is that Nelle is trying to make believe that Morgan is still alive and wants to drive Carly insane so that she ends up in a mental institution, or something along those lines.
We’ll find out next week what happens with our favorites in Port Charles!
